How Do We Raise The Fun?

Easy, we play kickball. Now the hard part. Since we seek to raise funds for a local not-for-profit, we put some extra love into coordinating with our sponsors and our donors. Our raffle is a good source of fundraising for our cause.

you can buy raffle tickets to contribute to our fundraiser. In years past we have had donations from GoLite and other donors that we raffle off at the end of the tournament.

You can pick up raffle tickets online here.

2010 BKC: Kickball Without Borders - Engineers Without Borders

The story is simple and inspiring. It was 2000, in a Boulder, Colorado backyard. Two men, Angel Tzec, a landscaper and representative of the Belize Ministry of Agriculture and Bernard Amadei, a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder met by chance and a friendship born. Small talk led to big change. Tzec invited his new friend, Dr. Amadei to visit his village in San Pablo, Belize, which was desperately in need of clean water.

The community had no electricity, running water or sanitation. Dr. Amadei was stunned to see little children carrying water all day long from a nearby river. "I knew that, as a civil engineer, there had to be something I could do."

Amadei later brought eight University of Colorado-Boulder students, along with Denis Walsh, a civil engineering expert from Boulder, Colorado, with him to San Pablo. Working together with the local community, his team effectively installed a new water treatment system, which produces clean drinking water by harnessing the power of a local waterfall. Simple, sustainable, and low-cost, the entire project was completed for $14,000.

This success led to the nationwide phenomenon known as Engineers Without Borders, USA. As has become their standard, volunteer university students from around the country attempt to use locally available resources to complete low-cost, high-impact civil engineering projects in other developing countries.

Since its incorporation in 2002, EWB-USA has grown from approximately eight engineering students and a civil engineering professor to an organization of over 12,000 students, faculty and professionals. Today, EWB-USA's membership continues to grow, limited only by the organization's infrastructure and ability to ensure the quality and sustainability of the community programs.

We Need You!

We are looking for partner organizations to help support our cause and promote our lifestyle of playin' hard and kickin' balls. We are hoping to find companies and individuals willing to contribute operational funds, products and sponsorships, and whose ideals align with our own; namely, supporting local Colorado charities.

All funds will help us to finance the tournament, with all proceeds benefiting a local charity of our choosing (details to come). Prizes that are donated will help us boost raffle ticket sales, again with all proceeds benefiting the same local charity.

All tournament sponsors will be promoted on our website, in our outreach efforts, and in person at our tournament. We anticipate approximately 100 participants, typically well-educated 20 and 30-somethings living in and around the greater Denver-metro area. We will use our experience in social media, community involvement, and kickballing to promote your organization, while you will be supporting a good cause and good times!

If you have an interest in helping to support Kickball Colorado, please Contact Us.

  • What It’s All About

Our goals are simple. Play Kickball. Organize Kickball. Promote Kickball... And support local charity.

Kickball Colorado calls the City of Boulder home - and there is perhaps no home more fitting for such a kickball-centric organization. As of May 2013, there are 34 teams playing within the city limits, with all leagues run by the Parks and Recreation department. So, thank you, City of Boulder, for helping to promote the game of kickball. And thank you, kickballers. Your enthusiasm and good-natured sportsmanship have helped make Boulder kickball the thriving social scene that it is today.

Kickball Colorado was created as an attempt to ride this wave of enthusiastic ball-kicking, to harness its potential energy, and to steer it towards a just and righteous cause.

In 2010, we created the Boulder Kickball Classic, a one-day tournament fundraiser for Engineers Without Borders. The 2011 BKC raised money for the Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN). Winter of 2013 has brought you this website. Come autumn, we will once again host the BKC, where only the most enthusiastic and fun-loving of Boulder’s vast kickball community come to play.

If that’s you, sign up now!
